Whats up Nails, Mermaid Nails.

Hey guys,

I have been contemplating posting this all week. I loved the idea of mermaid nails but I wasn't totally happy with how they turned out. At the end of the day I decided what the hell, everybody makes mistakes, right? I figured someone could probably learn from my mistakes and have a better experience with nail vinyls.

First, I painted my nails with two coats of Andrew, from Colors by Llarowe, and let it dry completely. I love this color and thought it would be a great base for a mermaid nail. Next, I applied my mermaid scale vinyls from Whats up Nails and made sure there was no space between the vinyl and my nail. Then, I decided to paint Believe in Miracles, Color of the Month from Colors by Llarowe, directly over the nail vinyls. Lastly, I removed the nail vinyls with a normal pair of tweezers and added a top coat.

Here is what I learned from the process I followed. I wish now that I would have used a latex free cosmetic sponge rather that painting directly on the vinyls. When I painted the polish directly over the nail vinyl, there was too much excess polish at the tip of my nails that was a little difficult to work with when removing the vinyls. The other mistake I made was not waiting long enough to put a top coat on over the entire design. This caused the two colors to smear together and the difference from the light to dark color wasn't as noticeable.

The funny part of all this was that I later discovered that my pointer nail is upside down! It took me days to notice that, that had happened. I really loved the nail vinyls and how they applied, I definitely need to focus more next time to make sure they are all going the same direction, lol. I hope you learned something from my experience. I know they may look complicated but give the vinyls a chance, they are super fun and easier to use than you would think.

Love, Kathy.

Orly GelFX, Lola.

Blog day! Woo!

Hey guys, I went shopping this week! I love shopping! I went to two of my local Sally's Beauty Supplies and grabbed some Orly GelFX colors. Since I can't paint them back, to back, to back, this post will only have the first one. So without further ado, here is "Lola", which is coincidentally my adorable dog's name.

Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures of Lola alone before I added nail art. Here are the photos I took on my iPhone.

Last night I was goofing around with our stamping plates and decided on a Disney design for my accent nail! This is when I actually took photos on my camera. I am so proud of how it turned out! For Mickey's glove I used the Fab ur Nails, FUN 1 stamping plate with Color Club, Blue Heaven. For the dots I used two different sized dotting tools and Colors by Llarowe, I am Free from the Little Miss Independent set.

And of course, here is my Lola!

Colors by Llarowe, Gemini Rising.

Hey guys!

Today, I am putting up all the pictures I've accumulated in the last few days of Gemini Rising by Colors by Llarowe! Gemini Rising is what I would describe as the perfect Kelly Green linear holo, it's very bright, almost neon in a way. It is absolutely my favorite color! It is always hard to find nice green polishes, especially holographic ones. If you love green, GRAB THIS!! It is well worth the price and with Indie Polishes, you never know when it will be gone! I need to stock up because that scares me!!

In these pictures, I have a white coat of gel nail polish underneath Gemini Rising. If you have somewhat brittle nails, having a gel coat under is so helpful! This is probably the longest my natural nails have ever been and I love it!!

I took these first pictures with my Sony NEX-6, enjoy!

The formula on this polish is amazing! The one thing I will warn is that it tends to stain the nail a yellow/green color if you don't use a couple coats of base!!

Here are the random photos I've taken with my iPhone this week:

What do you think? Amazing, right?!

Colors by Llarowe, Joanna.

Hey guys!

Today I wanted to share one of my favorite new polishes with you. I have been really into Colors by Llarowe lately, and I just can't get enough of this color! Joanna is a polish from the Overboard Collection that CBL put out this year. It is the perfect shade of gold with an intense linear holo. This polish applies a bit thick and you can easily get full coverage in two coats. If the thickness really bothers you, you can add a bit of high quality polish thinner. It can be really tricky to add with holographic nail polish, so I would research it in depth first.

For this manicure, I actually started with a white gel base to make my nails a bit thicker than normal. This helps me a lot because I have super brittle nails that love to break. Next, I layered two coats of Joanna atop the gel base. As the final step, I used a fast dry top coat by Nail Tek called Quicken.

Earlier today, I got bored and decided to add an accent nail to my mani. I used striping tape to make lines diagonally on my ring finger and painted CBL, Mean Dean Proffitt over Joanna. More photos below, hope you guys enjoy!

Introduction

Hey Guys!

My name is Sylvia and I love everything beauty related. From me you will see things that have to do with hair, nails and makeup. I am a licensed cosmetologist through the state of Arizona. Currently, I work for Great Clips and have since January of this year and I love it! I love sharing my thoughts on products with people and this is a great way for me to do that; alongside my best friend and sister.

My Name is Kathy and like my sister Syl, I love dabbling in everything beauty! Nail polish is my passion and I have just started my journey with makeup. I have never really been the person that can spend an hour doing my makeup perfectly. However, I love trying new things so much that I am challenging myself to be more adventurous. I love sharing my opinions with other people and reviewing things that I've tried. It is really amazing to have the ability to work with my sister and learn new things together. We have the best bond and loving the same things gives us even more to do together!
